Championing a Just and Equitable Future

Supporting victims of July Movement

Better Bangladesh is an activist organization dedicated to safeguarding the ideals of justice, freedom, and equality for all citizens. The martyrs and wounded warriors of the July Student Movement sacrificed their blood for justice and freedom. Today, many of them are disabled, struggling financially, and in desperate need of our support. It is our moral and humanitarian duty to stand by them, especially those who have become permanently disabled and are waiting for our help.

In collaboration with the July Foundation and Deepto TV, Better Bangladesh is actively facilitating ongoing donation programs to ensure sustained support. Our commitment is unwavering — we stand in solidarity with these courageous souls, offering not just aid, but hope and dignity in their journey toward healing

Remembering Shahid Anas: A Beacon of Courage and Sacrifice

Shahriar Khan Anas, a 16-year-old tenth-grade student at Adarsha Academy in Gendaria, Dhaka, became a symbol of youthful bravery during Bangladesh's July Movement of 2024. On August 5, 2024, Anas was tragically shot three times by police in the Chankharpul area while participating in peaceful protests against systemic discrimination. His body was later recovered from Dhaka Mitford Hospital and laid to rest at Jurain Cemetery .

Before joining the protest, Anas penned a poignant letter to his parents, expressing his unwavering commitment to justice:

“Dear Mother, I am heading to the demonstration. I could no longer restrain myself. I am sorry, Father. I left the house against your wishes. I couldn’t stay home like a selfish person... If I do not return, please do not grieve but be proud.”

This heartfelt message resonated nationwide, igniting widespread calls for justice and highlighting the profound sacrifices made by young activists. In honor of his bravery, Deen Nath Sen Road in Gendaria was renamed "Shahid Anas Road"

Anas's legacy endures as a testament to the power of youth-led movements and the enduring fight for equality. May Allah grant him Jannatul Ferdous.

Better Bangladesh stands in unwavering solidarity with Anas’s courageous parents, Shanjida and Polash. Together, they are working alongside us to identify the martyrs and wounded warriors of the July Movement, ensuring they receive the financial aid, mental health support, and recognition they so rightfully deserve. Through their strength and dedication, we honor the memory of Shahid Anas and continue the fight for justice and dignity for all who sacrificed for a better Bangladesh.

Honoring Atikul: A Living Symbol of Sacrifice and Courage

Atikul, a young and fearless student, became one of the most inspiring figures of the 2024 July Movement in Bangladesh.
In the face of brutal state violence, Atikul lost one of his hands while standing shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands demanding justice, equality, and freedom. But even in unimaginable pain, his spirit remained unshaken.

When asked about his sacrifice, Atikul powerfully declared:
"If needed, I will sacrifice my other hand too — for my country."

These words captured the soul of the July Movement — a generation unwilling to surrender, even when faced with the gravest brutality.
Atikul’s bravery transcends physical wounds; it represents the unbreakable will of a people determined to reclaim their future.

Today, Atikul continues to be a voice for the wounded and the fallen, working alongside organizations like Better Bangladesh to advocate for justice, healing, and national dignity. His story reminds us that the price of freedom is high, but the spirit of those who fight for it is eternal.

We honor Atikul’s sacrifice, and we stand firmly with him and all the wounded warriors of the July Movement.

Mrs. Khaleda Begum, representing Better Bangladesh, is closely working with Atikul and his family to provide ongoing support and solidarity.

In Tribute to Arafat: A Symbol of Courage, Loss, and Unbreakable Spirit

In the midst of the July Movement’s darkest days, Arafat stood among thousands—brave, hopeful, and determined to see a just and equal Bangladesh. He wasn’t armed with anything but conviction. But in the face of brutal state violence, Arafat was shot by police. The attack shattered his young body, costing him one of his legs.

For most, such a tragedy would bring silence and despair. But not for Arafat!  Despite the unimaginable pain and permanent loss, Arafat’s spirit remained unbroken. His eyes still burn with the same fire that led him to the streets in the first place—a fire for justice, for freedom, and for the dignity of his people.

Today, Arafat is not just surviving—he is rebuilding. We honor Arafat’s courage, and we stand firmly with him and all the wounded warriors of the July Movement.

With the support of Better Bangladesh and the July Foundation, Arafat has opened a small store to help support his family and reclaim his independence. This store is more than a business. It is a symbol of resistance, resilience, and the refusal to let injustice write the final chapter.

Better Bangladesh: Rebuild the Lives of Bangladesh’s Wounded Heroes

Better Bangladesh is proud to stand beside 23 courageous individuals who were severely wounded during the July Movement—young men and women who sacrificed their safety for the dream of a just and democratic Bangladesh. These wounded warriors have lost limbs, endured lasting injuries, and faced unimaginable trauma, yet they remain steadfast in their belief in a better future.

Through the generosity of donors and the tireless work of our volunteers, we’ve been able to provide these heroes with urgent financial aid, access to medical treatment, mobility support, and resources to rebuild their lives—from funding basic needs to helping some of them start small businesses.

But the journey is far from over. We invite you to stand with them. Every donation, no matter the size, is a step toward restoring dignity and hope. Your support can help a wounded student walk again, fund rehabilitation, or simply remind a family that they are not forgotten.

Together, let’s honor their sacrifice with action. Let’s help heal the wounds of July—one life at a time.
